Section 01
Working with an Advisor.
What a travel advisor actually does, and why it matters.
A travel advisor is a professional travel consultant with the resources, connections and expertise to add real value to your travel plans. We work in partnership with you to select and plan travel experiences tailored to your unique wishes and priorities. The benefits are many, and you may find you uncover new perks each time we work together. In contrast, some large call-center agencies are inbound marketing specialists with little actual travel experience. Their goal is speed and volume — take the order and move on. That model rarely offers guidance on the destinations, cruise lines, or properties you're considering, and often defaults to one-size-fits-all itineraries.
Section 02
Fees & Services.
How working together is structured, and how we are compensated.
Yes. Travel advisors are compensated for their time, expertise, and the resources they deploy on your behalf. We charge planning fees — a model much like architects, interior designers, and financial planners use. Standard commissions are nominal, and fees allow us the freedom to invest real time and care in your departure. The amount varies with the scope of your request, and any fees are discussed during your complimentary consultation.
Section 03
Cruising 101.
Ocean, river, small-ship — a short primer on which one suits which kind of traveler.
They share a name and almost nothing else. Ocean ships are destinations in themselves — larger vessels, deep water, longer sea days, multiple dining rooms and lounges, and ports that are often a tender or a walk from the town center. River ships are long, low, and small — usually 100 to 200 guests — moving quietly through the heart of a country. You dock in the middle of the village, step off after breakfast, and the ship repositions overnight while you sleep. Ocean itineraries reward travelers who want space, variety on board, and open water. River itineraries reward travelers who want the countryside itself to be the main event, with a new town most mornings and no packing between them.
